Very powerful, with a stronger and more surprising finish than I expected. As a therapist, I well know how deep and long-lasting those early childhood experiences can be. Though, as the narrator’s husband said, both little girls were now grown women with children of their own, the dynamic between the two of them remained. As renowned psychologist Alice Miller reminds us, “Our childhood is the air we breathe.”
